The Fencibles travelled from England to NZ on ships taking 3 months.
These people could only come with one trunk.
We started unpacking the trunk to make a cup of tea then make a pudding.
We did ironing and used a chamber pot.
Welcome to Room 16's blog for 2017. We are an energetic Year 3/4 class and our teacher is Whaea Tearani. We are looking forward to working together and learning lots of exciting and new things this year! Check our blog regularly to see what we have been up to. We would love to read your comments.

Today the Middle School had our assembly.
Room 19 led the assembly while The Ukulele Group, Rooms 20 and 16 supported.
This afternoon Rooms 16 and 20 began celebrations for Matariki or Maori New Year. We learnt about Maori Stick Games Tititorea and Mau Rakau.
We know there are 7 whetu or stars: Waiti, Waita, Waipuna-a-rangi, Tupuanuku, Tupuarangi, Ururangi, and Matariki. This year 2 new stars were discovered Hiwaiterangi and Pohutukawa.

I returned to school this morning and had a pleasant surprise! Room 16 students are able to recite our morning karakia independently! Wow impressive!
E te atua
Manakitia tenei hui
Awhinatia matou I roto
I o matou Mahi
Ki te wairua tapu
I o matou ariki
Amene
Every morning we ask for our day and our work to be blessed.
